At our LiveLighter Welcoming the Whales Festival 2019
Celebrate the return of migrating whales to The Amazing South Coast this Saturday 1st June.
Spread throughout the Historic Whaling Station grounds, the festival is fun for all ages with whaley great family activities on offer from 10am. The festival’s official opening and welcome to the whales will occur at 10.30am, then the festival fun continues all the way through to 2pm.
Enjoy a variety of crafts, story time sessions, face painting, Southern Edge Arts parades, plus live music from The Albany Shantymen, The Shantylillies, Alison Parade and The Mist Music. Keep an eye out for the magical SoulSea Mermaids and the friendly whales, Blubber and Killa, who will make special appearances during the festival.
Join the morning Welcoming the Whales Beach Clean up, make a re-usable bag and discover how Albany Parks and Wildlife Service disentangle whales caught in drifting nets. Plus, hear from South Coast Cetaceans and local Marine Biologists about the types of whales and dolphins which visit Albany’s coast and the effects of plastic pollution on our marine environment.
Make sure to stop by and discover the amazing products, whale tours and exciting competitions on offer from our festival stall holders Albany Eco House, Albany Ocean Adventures, Busy Blue Bus, King George Sound Safari, Naturaliste Charters Whale Watching and Southcoast Diving Supplies.
Delight in the variety of tasty treats available from our festival food & beverage vendors Bar Kofi, Gin Lao Denmark,WA, Pork Your World, The Whippyman Van and Princess Royal Sailing Club sausage sizzle, or visit Whalers Galley Cafe which is open for breakfast 9am - 11am and lunch 11am - 3pm daily.
Live_Lighter Welcoming the Whales Festival 2019 is a community event proudly supported by Healthway, Discover Albany Foundation, Keep Australia Beautiful WA, The Amazing South Coast and GWN7. Entry is by gold coin donation.
Please note, for the safety and well-being of the animals, the Australian Wildlife Park will be closed this day.
