We are OPEN every day this summer!

Summer at the Station is packed full of great activities and events!

There is a summer full of extra offerings at Albany’s Historic Whaling Station for both locals and visitors to the region. From our popular holiday activities program, creative workshops, and an art exhibition, there is something for everyone to enjoy.

Designed to enhance the experience for children and families, our holiday activities program runs for three weeks, Monday-Friday, from January 8 to 26, with no pre-bookings required to join the fun.

Supported by the City of Albany, the program features a range of fun activities, from colourful fish themed craft and opportunities to meet retired whalers, to learning about southern right whale migrations and discovering amazing marine organisms with UWA’s Marine Scientist and whale researcher, Dr Kate Sprogis.

For those looking to further their creativity this summer, make sure to book your spot at one of the Outdoor Drawing Workshops on Sunday 14 January, with beginner and intermediate workshops available. Drawing is the foundation of visual art and it can be easier than you think. Join award-winning artist Andy Dolphin for one, or both, half-day workshops covering the basics of sketching on location at the Historic Whaling Station. All materials provided, and the workshops are suitable for ages 15 years and over. Spaces are limited, so bookings are essential.

Andy Dolphin’s stunning oil and watercolour artworks take centre stage in Inspired by Nature, an exhibition that takes you on a tour of subjects that inspire him on his artistic journey. From the West Coast through the Great Southern to the South Coast, Andy captures a variety of scenes from beaches and boats to rural life and more. Inspired by Nature on display in our Retail Gallery from January 6 to 28.

Plus, every day over the school holidays, visitors can join our Processing Factory Audio Experience at 11:30am and 1:30pm. This is a 15-minute audio track that guides you through the processing factory, providing an interesting insight into the history.

Summer is a beautiful time of year in Albany so why not pack lunch and enjoy the garden picnic areas, or treat the family to a delicious meal with the best ocean view in Albany from the on-site café.

With so many great events and activities on offer, a whole day of discovery awaits you at Albany’s Historic Whaling Station. We are open every day over summer, and annual passes are available.
