Silver Medal for Cultural Tourism!
Best in Tourism Celebrated at Perth Airport WA Tourism Awards
The best of Western Australia’s tourism industry was recognised on Saturday night at the 2019 Perth Airport WA Tourism Awards Gala Dinner, presented by Tourism Council WA at Crown Perth.
The industry’s premier awards night showcased the innovation and commitment to business excellence of the State’s leading tourism operators across 31 categories.
Albany's Historic Whaling Station were awarded Silver for Cultural Tourism in a field of strong competition. This award category recognises tourism operations that foster a greater understanding and appreciation of authentic culture, history, heritage and/or the arts.
There were seven amazing finalists competing in this category and as a regionally based, not-for-profit organisation we are delighted to have been recognised for all the hard work and passion our dedicated team of staff and volunteers puts in every day to bring Albany's unique history to life.
In its 47th year, the Perth Airport WA Tourism Awards attracted a record number of entries, representing a diverse range of businesses from across Western Australia.
The Perth Airport WA Tourism Awards is the most prestigious awards program in the tourism industry, with a long history of celebrating and recognising business excellence, innovation and outstanding customer service by tourism operators.
The longevity and process of the Awards really does mean that those operators which take home medals are the best tourism businesses Western Australia has on offer.
The Gold Medal for Cultural Tourism was awarded to Fremantle Prison for the fourth consecutive year.
Congratulations to all other Amazing South Coast category finalists and winners including Field of Light: Avenue of Honour, The Lake House Denmark, BIG4 Middleton Beach Holiday Park, The City of Albany, Busy Blue Bus, Boston Brewing Co, Singlefile Wines and Hall of Fame inductees The Beach House at Bayside.
